'A house is much more than a mere shelter, it should lift us emotionally and spiritually' - John Saladino.
HCC Interiors is an interior design consultancy founded in 2014 by Hianta Cassam Chenai.
After completing formal training at London’s renowned KLC School of Design, and working for acclaimed design firm Spinocchia Freund, she relocated the practice to Totnes, South Devon in 2015.
HCC Interiors primarily works on residential projects in London and the South West.
The aim of the studio is to create considered interiors, striking the balance between comfort, aesthetics and functionality.
To that end, we approach each project as a true partnership with our clients, using our combined experiences to create tailored homes that reflect who the clients are.
Whilst we pride ourselves on a versatile sense of aesthetics, drawing inspiration from both our clients’ tastes and the bones of their buildings, it is always underpinned by an emphasis on beautiful materials, characterful pieces and exceptional craftsmanship. Colours, textures and finishes are layered to provide subtle depth to our schemes.
Our finely tuned process ensures the design journey is gratifying to our clients whilst allowing us to remain mindful of their vision, practical needs and budget.
Hianta's elegant simplicity is positively infectious. She has a keen eye for space, form and colour and will maximise the most exciting potential of any given room. She also has her ear close to the ground for nifty ideas about materials and styles of furniture and fabrics, She carries out her designer role with a calm professionalism making it a real pleasure to work with her.
- Jenny Murray Band, London project, 2018
Hianta from HCC Interiors really understood what I wanted to achieve at my home. With careful consideration she translated my ideas into a workable format but also included some amazing design points that I would never have thought of. This is the first time I have used an Interior Designer and I would definitely use her for any other future project.
- Jennifer Lapidus, South Hams project, 2017
Hianta has a great spacial awareness and a talent in the skills needed to communicate ideas. Not only in the practical sense but also in her ability to understand a client's needs and way of living. Whilst listening to requirements she will put across innovative and fresh ideas that are in keeping with the overall brief, yet push the boundaries further. A skill of all good designers. We would have no hesitation in recommending HCC Interiors and are incredibly pleased with the work produced.

HCC Interiors and longtime collaborators and friends Workshop Collaborative are currently working on a range of beautiful, simple, handmade furniture.
The first piece, a floating console / cabinet hybrid, aims to answer the needs of the usually narrow yet hardworking British hallway. The modest dimensions of the solid wood piece keep things light visually whilst still managing to provide ample closed storage with two drawers and four compartments.
In solid oiled ash, with measurements of 150cm W - 40cm H - 35cm D as standard, the floating console can be made in many other native timber and bespoke dimensions.
To follow: a minimalist dressing table / individual desk, not too big, not too small bedside chests of drawers, a modular sharing desk, light and dainty side tables with a smidgeon of storage and an upholstered storage bench.
